The Task:
Design a poster and other branding elements for an event that utilizes type as a main design element.
The Subject:
Haunted Happenings, a festival that lasts the entire month of October held in Salem, Massachusetts. This event is family-friendly and has shopping, haunted houses, and other fall/ Halloween activities fit for all ages.
The Approach:
I wanted to create a poster that included real images of Salem rather than illustrations, so when visitors visit Salem they can recognize the buildings in the design when they see them in the city. I felt like this element added a deeper layer of connection.
Typography:
Montecatini Pro
Colors Used:
#000000
#FFFFFF

The Takeaway:
Initially, it took me a while to establish/ finalize a design direction I wanted to pursue for this type poster. By using imagery, the poster design was successful in providing a point of recognizability for the target audience. The overall designs represents both the Halloween and fall aesthetics Haunted Happening provides.
