The Task:
Design a new attention-grabbing book jacket that portrays the message of the chosen book.
The Subject:
No Longer Human, a melancholic, semi-autobiographical book about main character Oba Yozo's life from adolescence to adulthood.
The Approach:
I wanted to make sure I captured the sad thematics of the story when thinking about my book jacket design. I knew from the beginning I wanted to put emphasis on the different stages of Yozo's life and how as he got older, his life got worse. My design approach included using simple shades of green and brown and a simple san-serif typeface so that it wasn't too distracting from the subject-matter.

The Takeaway:
Overall my book jacket design approach was successful. The new cover displayed the thematics of the book without revealing the entire story. The colors and the typography used complimented the subject matter, and all elements of the book jacket flowed together nicely.
